Cabalen, a buffet restaurant located at the SM City Cebu Northwing features "Authentic Campampangan" dishes (per their website). Came here for an early family dinner last June on a quiet Tuesday night. At Php 298 per person the price is among the lowest in its class (drinks excluded). Thanks to its location & accessibility inside a popular mall, it is worth a visit if you're intrigued by Capampangan cuisine and simply want to give it a try.The food - nothing really special or super enticing about it, just the usual Pinoy fare; although I found myself enjoying their crispy crablets and Bringhe (Pampanga's version of the paella) a bit more than the other dishes on display. The thing is, the service was rather sluggish even when the place was just half-full. Empty dishes were not replenished quickly enough - a big no-no in any buffet setting. With the emergence of other buffet places in the city, each trying to outshine one another, Cabalen is unquestionably facing some tough competition. How to win over customers and transform them into regulars is probably a gameplan for management to consider for the future. Keep your food displays fresh & speed up your refilling process, please.

if you’re searching for delightful local dishes, then you should drop at this eat-all-you-can buffet. for desserts, their chocolate fondue is a must-try. drinks are paid separately. service needs improvement though. however, it was an awesome dining experience

At first I was intrigued by this Luzon-based restaurant & when I tried it, I say they serve good old Filipino buffet at competitive price. Most food being displayed here came from the north & this way you will appreciate what they provide like lechon kawali, sisig, dinuguan, kare-kare, bopis, halo-halo, biko, buko pandan, sapin-sapin, etc.😊 Craving for a quick Filipino feast, this is my bet for you!😁

THE WORST OF THE WORST BUFFET EVER!!! I would never ever recommend this to anyone even to strangers. Worst service and worst food combined. The price 289 is not fixed because drinks and vat is not included. It would reach around 330-350 pesos per person total. Food is barely even cooked, water served is not clean specifically the glass. Ice has tiny bugs on it. Very minimal choices of food. A waste of time and money!

My favorite food of all time is kare-kare, a kapampangan dish. Cabalen is a kapampangan-based resto. I admit, I went there only for the kare-kare. I was expecting more since this is their forte. Sayang, mas lami pa ang kare-kare sa Kuya J. To be fair, it wasn't that bad. It is delectable it is just that I was expecting more. The buffet, few choices lang, mas daghan kakanin. I love the pancit and the dessert na morag halo-halo.

The staffs were accomodating and the food was great especially the humba (I guess that was the name) and the sisig. Moreover, the price is affordable and worth it and the kids are free as long as they are 3 feet below. I would love to visit there next time. Two thumbs up.

In my opinion, there are two reasons why Cabalen has still been attracting many customers despite the emergence of other buffet restaurants in SM Malls in Cebu because of these: (1) accessibility and (2) affordability. Its location which is just beside the main entrance from the parking lot is a very big plus to them.  And its price which is below 300 pesos (though exclusive of the drinks...you can always ask for service water) is enticing to the budget.Food options, which is still Filipino cuisine, are not that wide but still more than what a normal human appetite can digest.  The food taste is not exemplary but still very acceptable to my gustatory judgment.

their location is strategically place near the entrance of the sm cebu, so its a plus, another is the price for the food, just below 300 it is quite affordable for those who love to eat, next is their food, it taste good but honestly its not something i would write poems about because of its juicy goodness, the food is simply filipino style that you can cook yourself, in your own house. the ambiance is mediocre at best, the place is too cramp for me but the staff were kind and thoughtful.

For a buffet, it is affordable and easy to locate which is very convenient for us. However, they have less choice of foods but still delicious anyway.

After years of being in business and with too many competitors these days, many people still choose to eat at Cabalen because of their fair-priced buffet.
