A Taste of Mandarin is one of the pioneering Chinese restaurants in Cebu. Definitely, it stands and continues to serve its valued and loyal customers, local or foreign, with such mouthwatering Chinese dishes you would ever crave for more such as its Hot Prawn Salad and Steamed Imported Scallops on Shell with Garlic that truly lead as its bestseller. I love the luscious taste of its Special Two Hot Two Cold Combination with its sweet saucy roast beef and soyed chicken with side dish of seaweeds and ginger sauce, and Shredded Beef with Green Pepper. Taste of Mandarin also plans to serve such Budget Meals in the upcoming days that would fit more the needs of the locals.(Reviewed by Sugbo Ambassador Abegail Gelig)

Delicious Chinese food all nicely wrapped into a very soothing chinese atmosphere. Their bird's nest soup and lemon chicken are among the best. There's usually not that many people so you can just go in without a reservation.

Chinese cooking is renowned throughout the world. Chinese food has a distinctive culinary style all its own. The emphasis is on fresh, seasonal ingredients, prepared with a minimum of fuss and beautifully balanced for color, texture, and presentation. A Taste of Mandarin is considered as one of the top Chinese restaurants in Cebu. This Gaisano family-owned restaurant  has been serving authentic Chinese dishes for almost three (3) decades.

This is my first time to try a traditional Chinese banquet and I am impressed by how festive and elegant this tradition is. This is also my first time in A Taste of Mandarin. I often see this resto when we are in Country Mall but have always hesitated to try bec of its stunning facade. It seems like the place is screaming "$$$" sign, but you know what? I realized that it's not that expensive considering the portions of the dishes they serve. I have a couple of favorites, like the Patatim, Prawn Salad and Pollonchai Soup. I can confidently say that the Patatim is the best patatim I have ever tried, by far. You guys should try it because it's really worth it. I am amazed by their Buddah Soup because it has all the top of the line ingredients that you can find. It felt like having soup with all the wonders of the world in it. I did not like it that much, because the taste is bursting with so much flavors, I couldn't get my mind to distinguish which is which. But I'm happy I was able to try it because it's something that I cannot eat everyday. I guess the lazy susan is ever present in a lauriat style setting and I like the idea of it. I remember my childhood days when my grandmother used to have lazy susan as well. It made dining really easy. Overall, the experience was fantastic. I went home with a full stomach and I kept blabbing about every dish I had to my friends. If you're up for something traditionally Chinese, try A Taste of mandarin. This place is best suited for bigger groups because their servings are big and good for sharing. It may be a bit pricey to average working class but there is always a time to splurge, once in a while. Right?

Started in 1997, A Taste of Mandarin was the first authentic Chinese Restaurant that came in Cebu with a Chinese chef as their head cook. Owned and operated by the Gaisano for almost three decades. Their Chinese-style cooking originated in Guangzhou which mainly features a sweat and subtle flavor.
