Aside from being trending in antipolo this week here in website, the uber driver that picked us up after our Pinto Art Museum trip recommended this place to us. (After arriving at the place, he told us that he was a friend of the owner of the restaurant :D.)Kuya driver, being biased, did not disappoint us with choosing the resto to have our dinner to. The food were delicious. We ordered our ever favorite kare-kare and 2 t-bone steak plates, all good for the four of us to share. For the dessert, their cake was the best. No umay taste, not too sweet which is what we like.Place is recommended for chilling, eating while reading books or having meetings. They also specialized in customizing cakes.

By the time we got to the third stop of the #HungerGames: Antipolo and Marikina Food Crawl, I was already feeling quite full from the what I ate at the previous stops. However, I just couldn't resist the offerings at Khayil's.The resto started out as a cupcake shop and evolved into a cafe serving the favorite dishes of the owner's family along with pastries and desserts. Notable among these are:- Beef Caldereta: Tender beef cubes in a hearty tomato stew with a hint of spice- Crispy Pata: Tasty pork knuckle with crispy skin and meat falling off the bone- Sizzling Beef Bulalo: Tender osso bucco with buttery gravy, best accompanied by nilaga broth - Chocolate Caramel Cake: moist and rich and so chocolatey- Red Velvet Cupcake: rich red velvet cake topped with decadent cream cheese ice creamSadly, I was not able to sample the Pinaputok na Bangus Belly and sandwiches served. Hopefully, I will on my next visit.

3rd Stop.  #ZomatoxABSCBN #HungerGames #AntipoloFoodCrawlJust when i thought that the food crawl is over.  I was brought back to reality when i found myself inside Khayil Café.   Of all the restaurants we visited,  KC is my favorite. The interior is not too fancy but somehow i felt like i was at home.  The lighting fixture looks vintage.   Mason jars and glass fixtures with light bulbs inside.  It reminds me of an art installation.  An homage to the chandelier. The walls are adorned with vintage toy airplanes,  painted wooden planks with different catchy phrases and quotes.  Perfect for someone who has an affinity with words.   Don't expect Nietzsche or Aquinas,  the quotes x phrases doent require a Philosophy Degree. We were welcomed by warm smiles from the owners.  Anna gave us the lowdown on how Khayil Café was born.  Their humble beginnings and why it is named as such.  Khayil is the name of her youngest daughter - a common denominator for family-owned businesses. Khayil Café started off as a cupcake shop.  They added savory dishes on their roster later on.   The menu comprises of some of the favourite dishes of her son. FOOD.¶ Pinaputok na Boneless Bangus¶ Crispy Pata¶ Caldereta¶ Ribs¶ Sizzling Bulalo¶ Hungry John's Burger¶ David's Overload¶ BinagoonganSWEETS¶ Double Chocolate Cake¶ Oreo Cake¶ Red Velvet Cupcake¶ Mango Cupcake¶ Chocolate x Caramel Cupcake¶ MilkshakesYes,  they served a boatload of food.  I tried some of the savory and a couple of spoonfuls of the cakes.° Crispy Pata.  The quintessential high-octane x bar chow x eat-your-feelings food.  Deep fried pork knuckle with some dipping sauce on the side.  I dunno about you,  but i haven't met any Crispy Pata that i didn't like.° Beef Caldereta.  Tender beef cubes in rich and flavourful sauce.  Good old-fashioned home cooked Caldereta.  No frills,  straightforward and delicious. ° Pinaputok na Boneless Bangus.   I like fish but i tend to avoid milkfish because of the fish bones.  Imagine my delight when i found out that it's boneless.  Bangus is a lil tricky as it tends to taste a lil muddy when it is not deep dried.  This one isn't!  They know how to cook a mean Bangus fish and they know where to buy the best ones.° Ribs.  This is one of my favourites.  The ribs are cooked well and seasoned with tyhme.  I can smell the herbs when the plate was served.  Aromatic and really inviting.  Muching on 'em is a feast of the senses.° Double Chocolate Cake.   Moist and has a rich dark chocolate flavor.  Not too sweet!  Yey!  It reminds me of Poco Deli's Blackout Chocolate Cake.° Mango Cupcake.   This one i weally like as the flavor is a breath of fresh air.  This is the first time i tried a mango infused cupcake and i enjoyed it.   The mango flavor is on point and it is nor reeking of sweetness.  Very light and refreshing.Khayil Café is a must-visit restaurant when in Antipolo.  A perfect place to relax and unwind. Hats off to the Generous People of Khayil Café!

From Cavite to Antipolo, the struggle after traveling the rough road of C6 is REAL! But when we reach our destination (Khayil's Bakeshop) it's worth it.Our first visit was so exciting, as it will be my chance to taste their pastries. Yeah, I just hunting their cakes and cupcakes. But it was a huge surprise for me when I tasted their pastas. I ordered Tuna Pesto, it is delish and with good serving. But the what catches my attention most is their Focaccia bread. The aroma of different herbs they used, the tenderness and the crunchy side is just PERFECT. Let's proceed to my main course wich is the pastry. I like how they frosted their cupcakes, looks classy. I was wrong in my expectation that it was too sweet. The sweetness is perfect! On my second visit, I chose Focaccia bread as a Pasalubong instead of the cupcakes. It just hooked our taste buds. And the last visit was quite different as they expand and renovate the resto. Now it was bigger and relaxing with their vintage set up. But the most interesting is the new list on their menu. As they now serve meal for the whole day. (Breakfast to Dinner) I picked Salmon for lunch, and of course Tuna Pesto with focaccia for merienda. They also served their Burgers and sanwiches. But I wasn't able to eat anymore. (my tummy is bloated na) BUT when I heard that there is a Cheesecake and Leche flan to be served, oh come on.. Forget the bloated tummy!!! The leche flan is so smooth and heavenly, I like its tangy taste of citrus. And the Cheesecake is exceptional! All in all A++++++Khayil's Bakeshop is a must try resto at Rizal. They also create amazing custom cakes.

ZomatoxABSCBN Marikina Food Crawl: Our third stop was at Khayil’s Bakeshop and Cafe.Khayil’s started out as a bakeshop where customers ordered custom cakes. They added meals to the menu due to customer demand. We also met Khayil, the owner Anna’s 12-year old daughter, whom the restaurant is named after. It’s a family business with 3 generations working there – grandmother, mother and daughters.THE FOOD We started with the Crispy Pata (P550) – the skin was thin and crisp! It was really thin compared to other crispy patas I have tried. My piece of crispy pata skin reminded me of a dorito chip!Beef Kaldereta – this was slightly spicy, with a thick sauce that only had a hint of liver and cheese. Best eaten with rice!Khayil’s uses creamy dinorado rice, and paired with the beef caldereta, resisting eating more is just impossible. We were also served some Pinaputok na Bangus, deboned bangus stuffed with onions and tomatoes, wrapped in banana leaves and grilled. We could really taste the freshness of the bangus. Why does food always tastes fresher when in the province?! They also have a Sizzling Bulalo which was done ala pobre style with fried garlic and mushroom sauce. As for dessert, I like their light & fluffy Red Velvet cupcake and their Mango cupcake. Cupcakes are P65 each.IMPRESSIONS I loved the quirky and cute design of the restaurant. It is simple, but the personal design touches like the pastel framed quotes and the printed placemats just made me feel like they make an extra effort to welcome their customers. The food is delicious – I liked everything I tried. It tastes like wonderful home cooking, like true home cooking you’d expect to find in the provinces where they have time to make everything from scratch and to cook it for a long time. Khayil’s Bakeshop is a very homey place, it feels like being a guest at a friend’s ancestral house in the province, and being stuffed with good, local dishes.
